As I do a bit of reflecting on what has been a very enjoyable and fulfilling year, there are some things where I simply “didn’t make it.” That’s not always easy to admit, but reality has a unique way of forcing you to face the truth! I didn’t read enough books this year. I can blame it on a lot of things, but no one cares. I didn’t post enough on my blog. I set a goal of blogging more in 2013, and I fell short of my goal. Again, I can blame it on a lot of things, but I still don’t think anyone cares. There was not enough exercise, not enough sleep, not enough networking, not enough…(oh, there’s more).
But it’s OK. It’s a new year with fresh opportunities. It’s not a bad thing to set goals and then look at them through the lens of reality. I can’t do everything. I can’t be everywhere. My suppletory attempts at reaching a few goals don’t have to keep me from dreaming again this new year. I’m excited about adjusting some goals for 2014, creating new ones, and then seeking to run toward these aspirations.
